How to use breeding

Overview of breeding in iLivestock, how to open a breeding record, enter breeding details, and then offspring.

Needing to record breeding information and link offspring to their parents? Here is a quick guide to everything breeding on iLivestock!


How to create a Breeding Record

Individually:

  1. View the cow record

  2. Press the circle 'action button' on the bottom right

  3. Choose 'Actions'

  4. Then 'Breeding' - the breeding form will open like below.

  5. Enter in the details and press 'Save'.

  6. This will now be saved in the 'Animal Summary' you can go into the breeding record by clicking the 'i' and continue to edit this once the ewe has lambed.

As a Group of Animals:

  1. Find and then view group.

  2. Press the 'Action Button (>>>)' while in the group.

  3. Select 'Breeding', the breeding form will open.

  4. Enter in the details and press 'Save'.

  5. After the group breeding record is saved, you can add lambs to the individual records.

  6. Once your lambing record is complete press 'Finish This Breeding'.

Caution: You cannot edit a finished breeding record! Make sure you are absolutely certain the information is true before 'finishing' the record.

How to delete a Breeding Record:

  1. Find the animal that is linked to the breeding record you need to delete

  2. Open the animal's summary by pressing the chevron on the animal tile

  3. Scroll down to 'Breeding'

  4. Swipe left to reveal the 'Delete' button

  5. Press 'Delete'

Remember: Deleting a breeding record is permanent and cannot be undone.

Quick record breeding data:

For iOS devices (iPhone/iPad):

Ultrasounds Scan (scan results):

This feature will update an existing breeding record on an animal, or create a new one with the scan result.

  1. Select species of animals you are scanning.

  2. Scan an EID tag with a connected stick reader, or use the search function at the top to find and select your animal.

  3. Select the number of lambs expected using the green boxes, or select the red box if the animal is not in lamb.

  4. Press 'Record' after the correct details have been entered.

  5. Press 'Finish' when you're finished scanning.

For Android Devices:

Quick record offspring:

  1. Scan an EID tag with a connected stick reader, or use the search function at the top to find and select your animal (swipe from right to left on the animal to remove it if you pick the wrong one).

  2. Enter information into the breeding record (if the animal already has an open breeding record it will pull through the information).

  3. Tap under 'Offspring' to add the offspring, or just scan the tag. You can add a new animal or one that already exists on the app.

  4. Hit 'Record' when you are finished with that record.
