Adding Sheep - Scan EID Directly into App

Add your sheep by scanning their EID tag and completing their details as you go, or bulk add details as a group once added.

In iLivestock, you can scan your sheep's EID and automatically create your UK sheep animal Visual ID. You can either add each sheep detail one by one or bulk scan and then update the sheep details as a group.

This second option is helpful if scanning your animals into the app in specific categories, such as breeding females, lambs, sires,

etc.

How to add sheep manually by scanning EIDs directly into the app via the sheep stock list, or directly into a sheep management group.

How to scan and then add to a Sheep Management Group:

Step 1: First, connect your EID reader to the app.

Step 2: Navigate ALL Animals on the lower navigation menu; this is your stock list of Sheep and Cattle.

Next, select Sheep on the upper navigation menu - this is your sheep-only view.

Step 3: Next, scan the first sheep EID, and the new EIDs will appear near the top of your sheep list.

Step 4: Highlight newly EID-scanned sheep by tapping them, and they will get a green surround.

Next, tap the Action button (Blue circle icon with white arrows) to bring up a list of action options and

Step 5. From the Action options list, select Add to Group

Step 6. You can now tap + Create New to create a new group to add this specific cohort of animals to, or if you have previously created groups, you can select the relevant one to add them to.

Step 7. An Add Group screen will be generated for you to add your group name and any notes. Add the details and then tap Create to create the group.

Step 8. Once the new group is created, you'll be taken back to the Groups screen to select the group by tapping it. The animals will then be added to the group.

Step 9. A confirmation banner will then show, confirming the animals have been added to the group.

How to scan directly into a Sheep Management Group:

Step 1: First, connect your EID reader to the app.

Step 2: Navigate Groups on the lower navigation menu and then Sheep on the upper navigation menu.

Here you will see a list of your pre-created Sheep management groups. Or you can tap the action button to create a new one.

Step 3: Open the group you want to scan your animals into by tapping the chevron on the group card.

Step 4. Start to scan your sheep EIDs, and the scanned sheep will show within the group view.

How to add sheep manually by scanning their EID on the Add Sheep form:

Step 1: First, select the Animals option on the lower menu

Next, tap the Action button (iLivestock logo) in the lower right corner and select Add Animal

Step 2: From the Add Animal menu, select Sheep from the list

Step 3: The animal details page will be generated for you to complete and save.

Step 4: If you have your stick reader connected you can scan the EID of your sheep and this will add the EID to the EID field and generate a corresponding VID (Visual ID), which will automatically be added into the VID field.

Note: You can only connect your EID reader and scan EIDs when logging individual animals in this way; you can not type in the EID field manually.

Complete the empty fields for DOB, Gender, Birth Weight and Breed, add the Holding the animals are situated on from the Holding picker wheel that will appear when you tap this field and then tap 'Record' to save the animal.

Note: If you don't see the breed of sheep you need in the breed drop down, you can add a breed of your choice in the 'Admin' section found in the lower navigation menu of the app.


How to Update Animal Details as a Group:

When your animals have been allocated to a group, it's easy to update the group animal details using the 'Settings on ALL group animals' feature.

This action can be created on any group, Auto groups, Sheep groups, Cattle groups or Permanent groups.

The Settings on ALL Group Animals action can be created on any group, Auto groups, Sheep groups, Cattle groups or Permanent groups.

Step 1: Find and open the group, and then tap the Action button to open the Group Action menu

Step 2: Select Settings on all group animals from the menu

Step 3: Now select Set group ON Holding to allocate the group to the relevant holding.

Step 4: If adding directly to your holding, select the relevant holding under My Holdings

Step 5: Your animals will now be allocated to the holding you have selected. You can open each animal and verify the location by checking the holding details at the bottom of each animal summary.

Step 4: If adding to a third-party holding, select the relevant holding under Third Party

Step 5: Your animals will now be allocated to the holding you have selected.

Note: As this is a Third Party, your animals will be greyed out (meaning they are OFF farm). You can open each animal and verify the location by checking the holding details at the bottom of each animal summary.

To update the rest of your animal details, repeat steps 1 & 2 and then choose from the relevant Group Settings to add the - Breed, Gender, DOB, Management Tag and so on from the list of options below:

  • Group Metrics

  • Breed

  • Management Tag

  • DOB

  • Gender

  • Castrated

  • Country of Origin

  • Holding

  • Identification Date (use this as Date on Farm)

  • Weaning Date

  • Process Alert

  • Flag Colour
