CSV Full Database Import

Importing information into iLivestock app using CSV imports. This works for Apple and Android, Android involves contacting us.

Where to find the import files:

Online:

  1. Go to our website, and click 'My Account' in the top right corner, then proceed to log in.

  2. Once logged in, on the left hand side click 'Data' then, 'Import'.

  3. You can then download our import files from here.

Mobile Device:

  1. Open the app on your Apple device and navigate to the 'Admin' menu tab.

  2. Press 'Reporting'.

  3. Select 'CSV Import Template'.

  4. Choose 'Save to Files' or 'Email' and send them to your own email address (you can then open this email on your computer).

Note:

  • This is often easier to do on a computer than iPad or iPhone.

  • If you are using an Android device please contact [email protected] to get the files emailed to you, Android does not allow the download from the app.


Inputting Data:

Please follow these rules when inputting your data onto the import sheet -

  • In the first column, make sure the letters (such as ANCA) are on the start of every row you enter data.

  • Same with 'END' must appear at the end of each line you inout data.

  • One ID number must be entered either EID, Visual, or Management (you can also enter two or all three).

  • Change the scientific notation of EID, Visual and Management, to 'Text'.

  • The date format must be dd/mm/yyyy e.g. 21/03/2012.

  • DO NOT remove columns, just leave them blank if you are not using them.

  • Make sure to follow the rule/steps and examples on the import sheet also.


Saving to CSV:

  1. Choose 'File' and 'Save As'

  2. Enter your file name

  3. Select 'CSV' under the file format option.

  4. Click 'Save'

CSV import templates for all locales that use a '.' as a decimal separator (e.g. £99.99 or $99.00) can be found by:


Importing CSV file:

  1. Email your files back to an email account you have on your iPhone or iPad (if you are an Android user, email your import file to us to import for you - [email protected]).

  2. Open the iLivestock app and make sure it is on the animals screen.

  3. Minimise the app.

  4. Open up your email and the file you would like to import.

  5. Press the 'Share' button (blue square with an arrow up).

  6. Scroll to the more option and press iLivestock.

  7. Your file will start to import please stay on the app until it's completed.

Alternatively, email your completed iLivestock templates to [email protected] and they will be able to assist with your data import.

Note: When you download and open the template files, they each have instructions on entering the data to enable a successful import correctly. If you're having issues importing, check these first!
